Bhairava No Fear
Bhairava epitomizes the destruction of rigid systems and taking the shape of Brahma’s fifth head, cut off to represent the destruction of old systems that were no longer in alignment with the truth. Bhairava prefers to exist exactly where the systems no longer exist. When people chant "Om Bhairava Namah" they are connecting to the rawest, disruptive force of Bhairava. Whether you imagine him as Batuka or Kala does not matter so long as it embodies his intent. One ancient text instructs that the power of the chant comes from the energy generated by a multitude of people chanting together. So if you are walking this path outside of formal instruction - do not worry. Because Bhairava will greet you wherever you are, especially in the craziness of KaliYuga.
